| Certification Program Name: | Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) |
| Certification Program ID: | 10733 |
| Certification Program Category: | Cisco Interoperability - Advanced Features |
| Description: | This verifies a device's ability to act as a standby router in the event of failure using VRRP standards in a network including a Cisco router. |
| Interpretation: | Devices earning this certification have demonstrated interoperability using VRRP in both Master and Slave configurations with the Cisco 175x-class router. |
| Product Applicability: | This certification is applicable to all LAN/WAN routers implementing IPv4. |
| Testing Overview: | The two devices under test will alternately be configured as a MASTER and then as a SLAVE (via priority settings). Both devices will be configured for Virtual Router IP (VRIP) addresses. The Tolly Group will attach an end station to determine connectivty across the master. Then, the master will be disconnected (logically or physically) and the fail-over to the slave will be verified. This will be done for each device. Either "ARP" commands at the client or debug/traces at the DUT or on the network can be used to verify the existence of the VRRP protocol as well as to gather additional information about the state changes. |
